Soon after accepting your bid, formal new membership ceremonies take place for each of the sororities. New membership programs last six weeks and are full of fun, exciting, and energetic activities. We trust that you will find your new membership period filled with fun and exciting activities geared towards bringing together new members and integrating them into the sorority as a whole. The University of Pennsylvania maintains a strong anti-hazing policy and requires that all sororities follow these guidelines in all activities. Any violations of the anti-hazing policy can be reported to OFSL at 215.898.5263.

The sororities at the University of Pennsylvania maintain high levels of scholarship and, therefore, the new member programs encourage the maintenance of high academic standards through study hours and sister-to-sister tutoring programs.

The new member period is a time to become affiliated with your sorority, but still allows for one to maintain previous commitments to sports teams and extracurricular activities. Similarly, new members are encouraged to maintain ties with friends from the dorm and classes as well as with those friends who are members of other sororities.
