Parent Resources
Summer 2010
Dear Parents and Alumni,
Hello, my name is Darby Nelson, and I am the President of the Panhellenic Association for 2010. I am extremely excited to embark on a fantastic and philanthropic year with many of your daughters and am eager to see many of them develop a true appreciation for the diversity of the Penn Greek community. I can truly say that going Greek is one of my best experiences at Penn. The bonds of sisterhood last beyond marching at Commencement and joining a sorority truly is an enriching, lifelong commitment.
In this past year alone, Panhel has raised thousands of dollars for organizations such as the Rena Rowan Breast Center and Operation Warm. We have held sisterhood events including Panhel at the Palestra, West Philadelphia Clean-Up Day during Greek Weekend and Powderpuff football. Furthermore, all of our eight inter/national chapters are strong and unique, filled with women who are passionately involved in organizations across campus.
In an effort to provide answers to parental questions and help you understand how Penn's Panhellenic organizes recruitment, we are hosting a Sorority Information Session during Family Weekend in October. This will be held on October 16th in Houston Hall. Please email Meredith Bress, VP Recruitment if you plan to attend! You can also check out our Parent Resources page for links to additional information.
While the Panhellenic Association's primary function is to act as the umbrella organization in order to connect sorority sisters on campus, I want to assure you that we are also here to be a liaison for those of you who have graduated, have daughters attending Penn or are merely interested in the Greek community. If you have any questions about how to contact chapters at Penn, would like to be informed of alumni events or have questions about the Panhellenic system please feel free to e-mail myself, OFSA or the other members of the Panhellenic Executive Board.
Best regards,
Darby Nelson
